NEW DELHI: A 50-year-old Principal of a Municipal Corporation of Delhi-run primary school at Pushpa Vihar here has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl of his school. According to the police, Satpal Yadav had been molesting the Class V student for the past one month and had even threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed it to anyone. He was arrested on Thursday afternoon after the girl and her parents, accompanied by local residents, lodged a complaint with the police and demanded action against him. "For the past one month, the Principal had been molesting my daughter. He used to call her to his office once or twice a week on some pretext and molest her. She told us about it many times, but we never paid heed to her complaints. And it continued for over a month. On Wednesday, he once again molested her and the girl refused to go to school the next morning," said the girl's father. At this, the girl's parents reached the school to confront the Principal. "When we reached the school, Satpal called his relatives and they roughed us up. Then I made a call to the Police Control Room," said the girl's father, alleging that even the police showed reluctance in acting against the accused and the First Information Report was registered three hours after angry residents staged demonstration outside the police post. The accused was later charged with wrongful confinement, intending to outrage the modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation. A local court remanded him to 14-day judicial custody. The MCD has also instituted a departmental as well as vigilance inquiry into the matter.
