News Analysis
The first paragraph in "Traffic cops buoyed by the drive" (Delhi, April 18, 2007, page 5) was "A week into the enforcement drive against those giving traffic rules a miss, a semblance of order seems to have come on to the Capital's roads, even as the traffic police have raked up over Rs. 2 crore in fines." Rake up is to search for and adduce (evidence, etc.) against a person. It should have been rake(d) in (colloq.) which means to amass money, profits, etc. In a report "Organ transplantation regulation mechanism to be strengthened" (Tamil Nadu, April 18, 2007, page 6), the expansion of H.L.A. is Human Leukocyte Antigen testing. It is chromosomal fingerprinting to help accurately predict who is related to whom. This helps in finding a close match for grafting and transplanting. It is the policy of The Hindu to correct significant errors as soon as possible. Please specify the edition (place of publication), date and page.
