MUMBAI: Hours before the high-profile Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai wedding on Friday, a young actor slashed her wrist in an alleged suicide bid after claiming that she was married to Abhishek. Janhvi Kapoor, who had done a minor role in an Abhishek film, Dus, appeared outside "Prateeksha," scene of the wedding celebrations, and inflicted injuries on her wrist after a dose of sleeping pills. She claimed she was married to Abhishek. As she bled profusely police took her to the Cooper Hospital and later to the Juhu police station where she gave a written statement. Police arrested her and slapped a case of attempted suicide against her. She was later released on bail on a surety of Rs. 10,000. Janhvi held forth on her claim that Abhishek married her in December last by applying "sindoor" on her forehead and promising formal solemnisation after he got a Filmfare award. PTI Shujaat Bukhari reports from Srinagar: Janhvi Kapoor alias Naina Rizvi's claim that she had an affair with Abhshek has been supported by her mother who lives in Srinagar with the actor's 10-year-old son. As the news about Janhvi's attempt to commit suicide spread in Srinagar, journalists rushed to her mother Shameema Nasir's house in Rajbagh locality. "I knew of Naina's affair with Abhishek. But I always told her to not to do it since she was a Muslim and her marriage with a Hindu could result in a social embarrassment," she said. Shameema is married to Agha Nasir, a retired bureaucrat, after a divorce from her first husband Mohsin Rizvi. She, according to the Agha family, had four daughters and two came with their mother and are pursuing their education in London after studying in Srinagar. Naina was married to Kalbe Hussain, son of a prominent Shia cleric Kalbe Sadiq in Lucknow. Even as Shameema denied he was Naina's son, family sources said that he was born to Naina.
