ONGOLE: Union Minister of State for Human Resource D. Purandhareswari said she would meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh again and prevail on him the need to stop the works on Babli project in Maharashtra. Speaking to newspersons here on Friday, she described the attitude of Maharashtra Government as "tyrannical" in going ahead with the project disregarding objections from Andhra Pradesh. It was really unfortunate, she felt. Asked what the Central Government was doing in this regard, she pointed out that it was an issue between two States. Union Minister for Irrigation Soz had advised the Maharashtra Government to stop the project works. But Maharashtra was going ahead without heeding his advice. So Andhra Pradesh had no alternative to moving the Supreme Court. But the court did not stay the works.
