PALAKKAD: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan will declare Kannadi the first fully electrified grama panchayat on Saturday. The officials of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) said the project was part of the complete electrification of all the houses in the State in a period of five years. The KSEB had sanctioned Rs.20 lakh for the panchayat as part of the project. An amount of Rs.6.5 lakh was sanctioned by the district panchayat and Rs.13.5 lakh by the grama panchayat to draw the electric line through the streets and to replace the bulbs with tube lights. The Chief Minister will lay the foundation stone for the construction of permanent check dams in the Bharathapuzha on Saturday afternoon at Ottapalam.
