HYDERABAD: A mock drill to check preparedness of fire safety personnel in the event of a fire accident was demonstrated at Hotel Kakatiya Sheraton at Greenlands on Friday. The Fire Services Department organised the drill in connection with the Fire Services Week celebrations which concluded here. Officials simulated a fire situation atop the hotel and rescued a person with the help of aluminium extension ladder. They displayed five other fight-fighting operations by using the latest equipment. Participating as a chief guest, Special Chief Secretary (Home) Paul Bhuyan expressed concern over lack of awareness on fire safety measures. "It is essential to follow all the safety systems in houses as well as commercial buildings following rise in number of fire accidents across the State," he said. Fire Services Additional Director P. Venkateswara Rao explained in detail about programmes organised by the department as part of the weeklong celebrations.
