HYDERABAD: The Chowmahalla Palace is organising a summer festival of arts and crafts from April 21 to May 1. The palace will be open for visitors from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. except on April 22, 24 and 28 when it will be open till 5 p.m. According to a press release issued here on Friday, besides cultural programmes in the evenings, crafts bazaars representing Pakistan, China, Bangladesh and Thailand are being organised. The cultural programmes lined up include an evening dedicated to poet Amir Khusrau with a special choreograph of Kathak dance and Sufi music by Mangala Bhatta, Devi Ramana Murthy and Javeed. This event on April 21 will have 10 different musicians playing on the dais. On April 23, the evening is to be dedicated to Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan with a concert by Ajay Chakravarthy, one of his disciples. April 25 will be dedicated to Aziz Ahmed Khan Warsi with a concert by his son Shahid Ahmed Khan Warsi and party. The programmes will be followed by dedication to Ustad Bismillah Khan with a Shehnai programme by his disciples Shailesh Bhagwat and Prem Shankar on April 26 and an evening dedicated to poet Shajji and a ghazal programme by Vittal Rao and Indira Nayak on April 27. Dedicated to Hyderabad Heritage, April 29 will have a Quawali Muqabala and Dholak-ki-geet and a programme dedicated to great saints of the country to be presented by Anup Jalota on April 30. Rajan and Sajan Misra will present a programme dedicated to Begum Akthar on May 1.
