CHENNAI: TCL India Holdings Pvt Ltd., a 100 per cent subsidiary of TCL Corporation, China, plans to restructure its small appliance business. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, the Managing Director of the company, Warren Wang, said TCL would evaluate and study the market structure of these products. After the evaluation, the company would look at either including or deleting any product from its product portfolio.
Dealer network
The company planned to expand its business in India by launching various ranges of air-conditioners, colour televisions, DVD-players and washing machines. The company had also decided to double its branches, dealers' network and after-sales-service centres by 2010. TCL India had last year sold five lakh colour televisions, 50,000 air-conditioners and one lakh DVD-players and earned revenue of Rs. 400 crore and it hoped to touch Rs. 500 crore during the current year, he added. Mr. Wang said that as a step to increase its market presence in India, it was launching various ranges of air-conditioners and colour televisions. The company's new category of ACs had a price range starting from Rs. 19,200 onwards. The ACs were available in five different colours and had an innovative feature of `independent de-humidification' and `anti-mildew.'
