BANGALORE: A first year B.Com student, who worked part-time as a newspaper delivery boy, died after a truck knocked him down in Adugodi traffic police station limits in the early hours of Saturday. The police said that around 5.30 a.m. a truck that was going towards Madivala from Anepalya knocked down Chetan (18) on Adugodi Main Road and sped away. Chetan, who was on his way to deliver newspapers, was pushing his bicycle to cross the road. He suffered head injuries and was rushed to a hospital. He died there around 7.30 a.m. Chetan was the son of Sadananda Acharya, a goldsmith residing on Bazaar Street in Adugodi, the police said. As the truck sped away, fellow newspaper delivery boys, who were picking up their stock from the Adugodi Main Road, chased and intercepted the vehicle. They thrashed the driver and handed him over to the police. The police have seized the truck and arrested the driver, Thomas of Kerala. Meanwhile, newspaper hawkers and deliver boys blocked the Adugodi Main Road for more than an hour and staged a demonstration.
