Govt. sells over 3,500 liquor vends

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Excise Department has managed to sell more than 3,500 liquor vends and garner revenue worth more than Rs. 900 crores, Excise and Taxation Commissioner Arun Kumar said here on Sunday. He disclosed that last year, the Department had disposed off about 3,300 vends and could muster about Rs. 849 crores.

Terming this a great success, he said that all allotments had been done through "fair and transparent'' draw of lot. He said that an interesting trend in the allotment of vends this year was a distinct shift towards IMFL.
