Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, (second left), with supporters at the Heathrow Airport, London, where she was prevented from boarding a flight to Dhaka on Sunday.
LONDON: Awami League activists accompanying the former Bangladesh Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, told the media at Heathrow report here on Sunday that she had a valid ticket and the British Airways was wrong to prevent her from boarding the plane. "She was flying from America to Dhaka with a stopover here. When she went to the airline counter to check in this [Sunday] afternoon, she was called into a special chamber and an official from British Airways told her that `you are not allowed to go back,''' an Awami League spokesman was reported as saying. Ms. Hasina reportedly arrived here last week from America on a personal visit. She said she would soon decide her next move.
Khaleda to follow suit
The British Broadcasting Corporation said that another former Bangladesh Prime Minister and her bitter political rival Khaleda Zia was also "set'' to join her in exile.
