THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Health and Social Welfare P.K. Sreemathy has said that additional homoeopathy dispensaries will be started in the State in the next five years. She was speaking after inaugurating the annual state conference and scientific seminar organised by the Indian Homoeopathic Medical Association (IHMA) here on Sunday. "We need new dispensaries and posts for Homoeopathy. But creating new post is difficult than opening up dispensaries. We need a collective effort for that," she said. "The funds from Arogya Kearalam project will be utilised for the purpose." At present there are 525 rural dispensaries for Homoeopathy in the State.
A report on the effectiveness of homoeopathy in treating chikungunya was handed over to the Minister by the representatives of the association on the occasion. M. Premachandran, president IHMA, who presided over the function talked about the need for granting recognition to the postgraduate courses in pharmacy and medicine at Government Colleges in Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode.
