NEW DELHI: Cartoon Network and Pogo will air a series of fresh and vibrant programmes this summer to provide unbridled fun, entertainment and knowledge to children across the country. On May 1, two new animated series, "Dragon Ball Z" based on a brave kid Goku who fights baddies in order to save Mother Earth and "The Di-Gata Defenders" that deals with children of a wizard who draw their strength from dice-shaped stones, will be premiered on Cartoon Network. Premiering on the same channel are new shows, "Johnny Test" and "Strawberry Shortcake". For cinema lovers there are exciting movie premieres. "Barbie: Magic of Rainbow" in which Elina travels with her puffball Bibble to a fairy school at the magnificent Crystal Palace will be screened on April 29. The sidesplitting animated movie of the world's favourite cat and mouse duo "Tom & Jerry: Blast Off To Mars" screening on May 13 will be another visual treat for children. The star attractions of the exclusive entertainment line-up on Pogo include the Indian television premiere of the phenomenally popular "Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire" on May 27 and a brand new edition of the award winning film titled "Camp M.A.D." on May 20. Pogo will present "Dr. Chotay Motay" on May 6. It is about a doctor who dedicates his whole life to the research of the human body, its illness and its cure. Pre-schoolers can look forward to a special season of the popular and revolutionary pre-school series "Galli Galli Sim Sim" on both Pogo and Cartoon Network channels. Announcing the exciting programming line-up, Turner Entertainment Networks Asia senior vice-president and general manager Ian Diamond said: "Excellent quality content has always been a staple of Cartoon Network and Pogo and nothing is different this summer. The latest television ratings further highlight that Indian kids have embraced our intelligent programming mix, considering 98 of the top 100 shows aired across kids' channels were either on Cartoon Network or Pogo." Mr. Diamond said that as leaders in children's entertainment the channels have constantly set new benchmarks and pushed the envelop for providing loyal fans a combination of world-class programming with just the right touch of local productions and acquisitions
