KOCHI: Cochin Flight Academy, a private pilot training centre is starting a course in flying. Addressing a press meet here recently, Captain Suraj Jose, managing director of the academy, said that the course will be for 12 months and will cost Rs.20 lakh. The academy has tied up with Florida-based Epic Aviation Inc. for the supply of five Cessna 172 aircraft for the training. The academy will announce the date of commencement as soon as the aircraft are delivered. The academy also expects to get the permit of the Director General of Civil Aviation. Capt. Jose is a commercial pilot licence holder since 1995. The programme for Commercial Pilots Licence with Instrument and Multi-Engine Rating will satisfy the criteria set by the DGCA. The students will be granted licence after they pass the examination conducted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Students will be selected on the basis of a written examination, interview and medical examination. Theory classes will be held in Kochi while the practical training session will be held at Salem airport.
