Easy for Karnataka

KOLKATA: Karnataka boys beat Puducherry 25-18, 25-15, 25-17 in the 29th National sub-junior (under-16) volleyball championship, organised by the West Bengal Volleyball Association, here.

Earlier, Finance Minister Asim Dasgupta inaugurated the championship.

The following players have been rejected from representing their States owing to age related problems after medical tests: Pankaj Waswani, Kailash Chandravanshi (both Cht), Vinay Beniwal (Del), Naveen Kumar (Har), Raj Kumar, Rekaran Das, Prabhat Singh (all J&K), R. Gurumurthy (Kar), N. Ibomcha Singh (Mani), K. Sivaraman, V. Sivaguhan (both TN), Chandan Upadhyay (U.P.) and Amarjit Singh (WB).

Boys: U.P. bt Chhattisgarh 25-5, 25-14, 25-19; Nagaland bt Punjab 25-23, 25-21, 25-17.

Girls: West Bengal bt Jharkhand 25-4, 25-4, 25-6; A.P. bt Goa 25-7, 25-3, 25-23; Maharashtra bt M.P. 25-23, 25-11, 25-19. — Special Correspondent
