NEW DELHI: Investigations into the human trafficking racket have revealed the involvement of five members of Parliament, besides Bharatiya Janata Party MP Babubhai Katara, who was arrested at the Indira Gandhi International Airport here last week, the police said. The Crime Branch of the Delhi police has sent notices to the MPs seeking their cooperation in the investigations. Besides Mohammed Tahir Khan, Bahujan Samaj Party MP from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh; Ramswaroop Koli, BJP member from Bayana in Rajasthan; and the late Ram Awadh, the accused have named BSP MPs from Uttar Pradesh Mitrasen Yadav from Faizabad and Ashok Kumar Rawat from Misrikh. "The police have asked four of these MPs to join investigations as per the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code," said Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Rajan Bhagat. Several teams had been despatched to different parts of the country to apprehend travel agents and others involved. "The assistance of other Ministries and Government departments concerned is being sought to expedite the probe. Many persons are being interrogated." Mr. Bhagat said that over 25 passports belonging to different persons had been recovered from Rajender Kumar Gampa, who, along with his sister Kiran Dhar and Sunder Lal Yadav, was arrested on April 21.
