YMCA office-bearers

NEW DELHI: Eminent educationist and Anglo Indian Association (Delhi Chapter) president Stephen Da Costa has been re-elected President of the New Delhi Young Men's Christian Association for 2007-2008. The other office-bearers are Major J. K. Michael, Vijay Russell and Vernon D' Souza (vice-presidents) and George Varghese (honorary treasurer). At the annual business meeting of the Association, Peter Prem, R. Sweety Prem Kumar, R. Clement Raj Kumar, Dilip E. Williams and Vijay Sewak were elected to the Board of Directors for 2007-2010.

Odissi Sandhya

NEW DELHI: The Odissi Research Centre is organising a two-day music and dance festival titled "Odissi Sandhya" at Triveni Kala Sangam here beginning Tuesday. Besides Odissi music rendition comprising Odissi, Champu, Channda and Geeta Govinda by eminent vocalists from Orissa, there will be a dance presentation by artists of ORC. A symposium on Odissi music has been organised at the same venue on Wednesday.

Irani IIM chairman

NEW DELHI: Tata Sons Ltd. Director Jamshed J. Irani has been appointed Chairman of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Society and Board of Governors of IIM Lucknow for five years. With a doctorate in metallurgy from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom, Dr. Irani joined the Tata Iron and Steel Company in 1968. He was appointed general superintendent in 1978. After holding the CEO's post for almost a decade, he retired as Managing Director of Tata Steel in July 2001 but continues as a Director on its board.
