NEW DELHI: A group of young men belonging to Naujawan Bharat Sabha (NBS) cycled down from Meerut to Delhi on Monday to carry forward the legacy of 1857, the first War of Independence.

Passing through a number of villages associated with the War of Independence, the cyclists crossed the historic Khooni Darwaza at I.T.O. here before reaching Jantar Mantar.

When the cyclists, displaying red flags of NBS and anti-imperialist posters, reached Jantar Mantar, they were given a warm welcome by members of the Delhi Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist)-New Democracy.

Later Janhastakshep convenor N. K. Bhattacharya and noted Hindi poet Pankaj Singh distributed small cards bearing photographs of the 1857 struggle to the participants of the bicycle rally.
