SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh State Election Commission on Monday announced the schedule for the Shimla Municipal Corporation elections, which are to be held on May 23. The capital town has the lone Municipal Corporation in the State. In a notification issued here, the Commission said polling would be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 23 and the results would be announced on May 25. Nomination papers for the election will be accepted on May 1, 3 and 4 while scrutiny will take place on May 5. The list of candidates will be displayed by May 7 evening after the expiry of the deadline for withdrawals at 3 p.m. The model code of conduct for the elections has come into force with the notification and transfer of any government official or employee during the election process has been banned completely.
