NCP plans rally

THIRUVANANTHAUPURAM: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is organising a mass contact jatha from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram beginning April 26. The jatha, to be led by NCP State president K.Muarleedharan, will be inaugurated by NCP national general secretary P.A. Sangma at Hosangady in Kasaragod district. Members of the jatha will address two public meetings in each Assembly constituency. The jatha will conclude in the State capital on June 2. Veteran leader K. Karunakaran will inaugurate the valedictory function. — Special Correspondent

Recruitment of religious teachers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Army has invited application for the appointment of religious teachers as Junior Commissioned Officers. Only male candidates need apply. Duly filled applications, in prescribed format available at the Army Recruiting Office, Pangode, or published in Employment News dated April 14-20 are to be submitted by May 18. Government directive on loan recovery

Thiruvananthapuram: The Government has issued orders exempting the recovery of the principal of loans and or advances taken by the Government employees and the interest on them from the salary for April in the case of employees drawing a basic salary of up to Rs.12,930 after revision (Rs.7,800 before revision). The amount involved will be recovered in five equal instalments from the salary from July to November 2007. The order is applicable to the teaching and non-teaching staff of aided-schools, employees of private colleges in which direct payment system is in force, gazetted and non-gazetted staff of local bodies and contingent and work establishment employees. — Special Correspondent

Two nominated

to panel

Thiruvananthapuram: The Government has nominated two more persons to the commission headed by Justice Rajendra Babu, set up in accordance with the Supreme Court directive to identify the creamy layer among the backward communities. They members are R. Chandrasekharan Nair, former PSC chairman and A. Abdul Wahab, former Principal, Iqbal College, Peringamala. — Special Correspondent
