Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister M.A. Baby has expressed the Government's willingness to amend the ordinance relating to the Higher Education Council. He was addressing the first in a series of meetings, on Monday, being organised by the Council to discuss its composition and role among other things. The first meeting was attended by Vice-Chancellors of various universities. The Minister said the Council's main objective was to ensure social justice and quality in higher education. It would strive to prepare a clear blueprint for ushering in changes for the purpose and bring about coordination among institutions in the sector. He added that the Council's intention was not to erode the autonomy of varsities but to strengthen it.
