KOCHI: School libraries should be strengthened to develop the culture of book reading among children, said V.R. Krishna Iyer, former judge of Supreme Court. He was speaking after inaugurating the World Book Day celebrations here on Monday. The International Book Festival, Kochi, organisers of the celebrations, also distributed books valued at Rs.1,000 each to 50 schools in the district. V. Nityananda Bhat presided. The former Union Minister Henry Austin; writer Thuravoor Viswambharan; and Baby Usha Kiran, Deputy Director, Education; attended.
