KOCHI. The Cochin Corporation Contractors' Association has decided to boycott tenders in the Corporation in protest against the steep rise in the cost of raw materials. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, association vice-president M.R. Chandran Pillai said while the Public Works Department had given a 50 per cent hike in the rates, the Corporations and Municipalities had not effected any raise. The association also protested against illegal cutting of trees in the city. A five-member committee, with Mr. Pillai as convener, has been elected to monitor the felling of trees within Corporation limits. The public have been requested to contact any of the following persons to report any instance of unauthorised tree-felling in the Kochi Corporation limits - M.R.Chandran Pillai (98950 26700), K.A.
