NEW DELHI: All the Bharatiya Janata Party members of the Delhi Assembly were on Monday expelled from the House by the Speaker for disrupting proceedings during question hour. The party had earlier sought an adjournment to discuss the Report of the Comptroller and Auditor General on the performance of the Delhi Government for 2005-06 but permission was denied. Subsequently, as soon as the House assembled, the BJP members attacked the Congress Government, accusing it of corruption. They said while earlier a few departments of the Government used to be found in the wrong by the CAG, this time almost every department had been found involved in financial irregularities. As members continued to disrupt the proceedings, Speaker Prem Singh expelled them one after the other. For the record, Dayanand Chandila did not join in the protest and was therefore not expelled, but though officially he is still part of the BJP, he now claims allegiance to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. Later, addressing a press conference, Leader of the Opposition Jagdish Mukhi said though he knows that the CAG report is sent to the Public Accounts Committee for discussion, considering the fate of the last PAC report on power privatisation on which action was not initiated, he had demanded that latest report be discussed on the floor of the House. Prof. Mukhi charged that there had been a scam worth Rs. 12,500 crore in privatisation of the Delhi Vidyut Board and thereafter the PAC under the chairmanship of Dr. S.C. Vats of the Congress had recommended that the matter be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation for probe. Also, it had recommended that the Central Vigilance Commission be asked to investigate the role of some senior officials. But the Delhi Government did not refer the matter to the CBI, he said, adding that while he has written three letters to the Speaker and six to the Lieutenant-Governor on the issue, nothing has come of it. Accusing Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of promoting corruption, Prof. Mukhi said the current CAG report had also pointed out grave "irregularities, corruption and favouritism".
