Rice seized

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Officials of the Civil Supplies Department on Monday seized 2.5 tonnes of rice hoarded in a ration shop in the Beemapally area. According to the police, a case has been registered against the shop owner under relevant provisions of the Essential Commodities Act.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P.S. Suresh, 32, was admitted to Medical College Hospital in a serious condition on Monday night. He was found lying on the road, after being thrown off his bike, in front of the temple at Althara junction, Vellayambalam, by local people. — Staff Reporter

Police officer dead

Thiruvananthapuram: A 54-year-old police officer was killed when he was hit by a car, while crossing the road on his bicycle, at Pachalloor on Monday morning. The police identified the deceased as Kesavankutty, an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police attached to the Medical College Police station. — Staff Reporter
