`Hoardings erected as per rules'

Staff Reporter

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Advertisement Industries' Association on Monday said the hoardings and advertisement boards put up by its members were all authorised ones.

Responding to news reports, the association office-bearers said their members had nothing to do with the temporary boards and arches erected in connection with religious festivals and political events.

Corporation sanction

Association vice-president E. Jacob John said the boards put up by association members met all ISO specifications and State and National Building rules. He said all the hoardings put up by Association members in the city had Corporation sanction.

The boards are tested by an `A-Grade' structural engineer. The hoardings can withstand 80 km per hour-strong winds and earthquakes up to three on the Richter scale.

He said the association members had also taken a `third party' insurance of Rs.20 lakh for each hoarding.
