The former Chief Minister K. Karunakaran has an endearing charm that instantly rubs off on his audience. The "leader," who was the guest of honour at the inaugural ceremony of the golden jubilee celebrations of the Kerala police held in the capital last week, told the audience that he did not nurture any delusion that he could change them with his advice. Coming as it does from a man who had served as Home Minister of the State for the most number of times, the comment went down well with the audience who smiled and nodded their heads in appreciation. Unlike most of the other speakers, Mr. Karunakaran chose to highlight the difficulties and challenges faced by the police in their job and urged the public to look at policemen as human beings.
