Dry weather in coastal T.N.

CHENNAI: Rainfall occurred at a few places over interior Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Isolated rainfall occurred over Rayalaseema. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep and south interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over coastal Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, coastal and north interior Karnataka.

Tirupattur and Watrap (Virudhunagar dt.) recorded heavy rainfall of 7 cm. each.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Rajapalayam (Virudhunagar dt.), 6, Arani (Tiruvannamalai dt.), Vellore, Uthangarai (Krishnagiri dt.), Tiruppuvanam (Sivagangai dt.), Kodaikanal and Srivilliputhur (Virudhunagar dt.) 5 each, Sengamangalam (Namakkal dt.), Bhavani (Erode dt.), Andipatti (Theni dt.), Thrissur and Puttur (Chittoor dt.) 4 each, Pollachi (Coimbatore dt.), Sivakasi (Virudhunagar dt.) 3 each.

Forecast (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over coastal and south interior Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over Lakshadweep and north interior Karnataka.

Outlook for Subsequent Two Days: No significant change.

A squall from north-northeasterly direction lasting for one minute with maximum wind speed reaching 94 kmph (51 knots) passed over Tiruchirapalli Airport at 1820 hours IST on 23-04-07.
