MLA wants pact for port project scrapped

Special Correspondent

Puducherry: S.P. Sivakumar (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) urged the Government during zero hour in the Assembly on Tuesday to scrap the agreement the administration had signed with a private agency to construct the deep-sea port.

Mr. Sivakumar said he had raised the question to know whether the Government had invited applications from any developer through expression of interest.

Whether any application from consultants had been obtained in the context of the proposed project.

His questions were not permitted now and they were all put off to the next session of the House.

The concerned Minister here had also told the House recently that those intending to resort to agitations against the port could have a detailed discussion through the elected legislators in the House.

This being the case, how could the Government abstain from furnishing replies to his queries, he asked.
