Donation for AIIMS cancer centre

NEW DELHI: The Terry Fox Foundation, which organises a charity run every year to promote public awareness about cancer, gifted a cheque for Rs. 9 lakh to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences' Cancer Research Centre at Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital here on Tuesday.

"The run will be organised in September this year. We are grateful for the funds generated from this mega event that have been donated to us for research," said Prof. G. K. Rath, Head of Radiation Oncology at the Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital.

`No load shedding

in morning'

NEW DELHI: The Capital met its peak demand of 3,340 MW on Tuesday with no load shedding in the first half of the day, claimed a release by the Delhi Government's Power Department.

While the city's own generation stood at 1,308 MW, it faced an outage of 202 MW and had to overdraw 63 MW of power from the Northern Grid. The maximum load on Monday was 3,375 MW.

NDMC ex-chief remembered

NEW DELHI: Employees of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) laid a floral "chadar" at the mazaar of their former Chairman, late Imtiaz Khan, at Nizamuddin here on his ninth death anniversary on Monday.

NDMC Chairman Parimal Rai led the employees in paying tributes. Later the NDMC employees distributed food among children.

Manav Ekta Samagam inaugurated

NEW DELHI: Nirankari Baba Hardev Singhji Maharaj inaugurated "Manav Ekta Samagam" here on Tuesday to pay homage to former head of Sant Nirankari Mission Baba Gurbachan Singhji who laid down his life while crusading for truth, love, peace and unity.

The Baba also inaugurated a blood donation camp. As part of Manav Ekta Divas celebrations the Mission is organising 55 blood donation camps across the country.

Health camp held

NEW DELHI: A free health check-up camp, mainly for women officials of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), was organised by the Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH) in association with Kailash Hospital and Heart Institute, Noida, at Pragati Maidan here on Tuesday.

Senior ITPO General Manager Safdar H. Khan said women officials face extraordinary stress and are prone to several health-related problems as they manage both home and office work.
