CHANDIGARH: Bhagat Phool Singh Women University at Khanpur Kalan in Sonepat district is to be expanded by adding more facilities for students as well as staff. It would also be linked to National Highway No. 1 to improve connectivity, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Tuesday. Presiding over a meeting here, Mr. Hooda said that new buildings including three hostels for girls, two big teaching blocks, a campus school, a guest house and nearly 100 houses for faculty and staff would be constructed. He asked Vice-Chancellor Anuradha Gupta to review the construction of these works every month and maintain a time-scale for their completion. Ms. Gupta said that these new buildings would be completed by June 15 next year so that the University could start new educational programmes and courses by July 2008. It was proposed to acquire about 440 acres of land for expansion of the University, she added.
The meeting was attended among others by Chief Minister's Principal Secretary M.L. Tayal, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary, Public Works (Buildings and Roads) Dharam Vir, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Finance) N. Bala Baskar, Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Education) R.S. Gujral, Commissioner and Special Secretary Public Works Department (Water Supply and Sanitation),
