Jayalalithaa stand

on Cauvery

CHENNAI: General secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) Jayalaithaa on Tuesday denied the view that moving the Supreme Court on the Cauvery issue would affect the State's interest.

In a statement here, she said Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's remark that the final order of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal could be nullified and Tamil Nadu would suffer a huge loss if the issue was taken to the apex court, was wrong. She said that the AIADMK did not subscribe to the view that the State should first file a reference petition before the tribunal instead of moving the Supreme Court directly. Official minutes of the meeting would prove this point, she said. — Special Correspondent
