Focus on development of remote areas

Staff Correspondent

DEHRA DUN: The Uttarakhand Government will make all-out efforts to ensure development of remote areas on a priority basis. Officials have been directed to formulate need-based plans with the help of the local people and their representatives so that necessary funds could be released immediately.

No dearth of funds

Announcing this at a public function in Pauri, Chief Minister Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri said that there would be no dearth of funds for feasible need-based schemes. "The officials will have to prove their efficacy through dedicated work," he said, adding, "Although corruption will not be tolerated, human errors that are bound to surface when a man works will be ignored."

The Chief Minister's recent tours of various remote areas in the State seem to have pushed the otherwise slow bureaucracy into action with officials fearing his arrival for on-the-spot inspection and interaction with locals any time.

A grievances redress cell has been set up at the Chief Minister's residence here. "Anyone wanting justice for himself or the community can put up a petition there and suitable action will be taken," he said.
