Hooda's directive on use of Punjabi

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, on Tuesday directed State Chief Secretary Prem Prashant to make arrangements for recording of proceedings of the Assembly in Punjabi also for legislators who make statements in Punjabi on the floor of the House.

Mr. Hooda issued the directions while interacting with National Commission for Minorities member Harcharan Singh Josh, who called on him here to discuss the issue of implementation of Punjabi as the second language in the State.

The Chief Minister said Punjabi was being taught in those schools in the State where the required number of students were available.

Mr. Josh expressed satisfaction over the manner in which the State Government was safeguarding the interests of the minorities in the State, saying that the overall situation was better in Haryana.

The Chief Secretary said that by and large there was no problem concerning minorities in the State.

Those present at the meeting included Deepender Singh Hooda, MP, and Chief Minister's Principal Secretary M. L. Tayal.
