JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has introduced a self-certification scheme under the labour laws, requiring industrial and commercial establishments to inform the Labour Department of payment of wages, gratuity and compensation to workers and implement the labour welfare and social security provisions. State Labour Commissioner Surajmal Meena said here on Tuesday that the scheme aimed at ending "inspector raj'' and ensure implementation of labour laws in a liberal manner. It is expected to make employers responsible for labour welfare and improve industrial relations.
Mr. Meena said the employers opting for the scheme by applying to the officers in charge in districts would
The department will undertake inspection of 20 per cent of registered institutions, selected at random, to ascertain their compliance with the labour laws.
The Labour Commissioner pointed out that though the employers, entrepreneurs and industrialists had praised the scheme, the registration of units under it was still not up to the mark.
