KARIMNAGAR: The stage is set for re-polling to the Legislative Council from the Karimnagar Local Authorities Constituency at Jagtial mandal headquarters on Wednesday. It may be recalled that the Election Commission had ordered re-polling in the Jagtial polling station following an MPTC member exercising his franchise openly and displaying the ballot paper during the election, which was held on March 17. Following the complaints lodged by the TDP leaders, the EC after conducting an inquiry in Karimnagar by summoning all the polling personnel of the booth, the MPTC member who participated in open ballot and the contesting candidates, had ordered a repoll in Jagtial polling station. A total of 17 MPTC members would cast their vote on Wednesday during the re-polling. Of this, 11 MPTC members belonged to the Congress, five to the TDP and one independent MPTC member. Though there are three candidates in the fray, but a keen contest is likely between the Congress candidate Ch Laxminarasimha (Laxman) Rao and TDP candidate Ch Sudhakar Rao. The counting of votes would be held on April 27 at the SRR Degree and PG College. The total voters in the constituency are 1,069, including 57 ZPTC members, 802 MPTC members, 203 municipal corporators and councillors and seven legislators.
