MANGALORE: The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has urged the Government to set up a marine bio-technology institute or a marine food-processing institute in Dakshina Kannada. In a memorandum submitted to Chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission M. Veerappa Moily during his visit to the chamber office on Sunday, president of KCCI John Prasad Menezes has said that the district had no reputed national-level institutes. A copy of the memorandum was released to the press. "We look forward to the establishment of defence, coast guard, paramilitary, agriculture, or horticulture institutes or offices to promote local employment. Branches of national or international institutes are welcome," Mr. Menezes said.
