The drains will cover parts of West Velachery including AGS colony, Sriram Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Radha Nagar, Raja Sethupuram and Tamil Nadu Housing Board Colony. In East Velachery, LIC Colony, Velachery Bypass Road, Taramani 100 Feet road, CSIR Colony and Taramani Pillayar Koil Street are to be covered.
Earlier in the day, the Mayor undertook a tour of ward 22 (Meenakshiammanpet) in Royapuram. Residents requested better roads and sewerage facilities and he assured them that initiatives in those directions would be taken.
He said the Corporation High School on Attuthotti Street would be upgraded to a Higher Secondary School. He said the `dhobi ghat' (washing place) in the locality would be equipped with better work and lodging facilities.
