(From left) Playback singers Krish and Arun
This young duo's voices are doing the rounds on radio and television. `June ponal July kaatre ...' from `Unnale Unnale' has topped several audio charts and displaced slightly older hello tunes of mobile phone users. Pa.Vijay has penned the lyrics for Harris Jayaraj's breezy number.
Refreshing voices
The refreshing voices belong to Arun and Krish, two new entrants in the Tamil film playback industry. `'Kanavugal Periya Kanavugal for `Ullam Ketkume' was Arun's debut while Krish's first song was for Vettayadu Vilayadu (parts of `Manjal veyil ...') Arun, who has a visual communication and management background, is into the printing business. He has produced several music albums, many of which feature gospel songs. It was one of his albums that won him an opportunity to sing for Harris Jayaraj. Vijay Balakrishnan, who prefers to be called Krish "as there too may Vijays around", has an associate degree in acting besides a bachelor's degree in computer science. He has also been a performer in Walt Disney's Broadway Musical. Thanks to friend Ganesh Kumar's initiative, he landed in Harris' studio to record his first song for his favourite hero, Kamal Hassan. "What more can I ask for?" he says. Arun has basic training in classical music while Krish took a few classes in western music as a student in New York. Krish, who is also passionate about acting, is currently shooting for a film titled Oru ilaignyanin kadai. Though the two recorded their tracks separately, the seamless blend of their voices has given Kollywood a super hit number. Meera Srinivasan
