Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said on Tuesday that though industrialisation was imperative for growth, the Government would not force it on the people. Industries would be set up only with their consent; not with bullets having to be fired by the police, he said at a rally at Ranichak in Haldia, across the river from Nandigram, in Purbo Medinipur district. "The Government does not need the police to implement its policies but the support of the people. If you support us we are there; if you do not, we are not there. I was not born to be Chief Minister. We have always been engaged in the struggle of the farmers and the working class," Mr. Bhattacharjee said.
