Hyderabad
MP takes a dig at the police
Staff Reporter
Hyderabad:
Earlier it was the Hyderabadi `phelwans' indulging in land grabbing in the State capital but now they are taken over by the Rayalaseema dons.
This was stated by V. Hanmantha Rao, Rajya Sabha MP, at a function organised to inaugurate the Vambay housing colony. In his typical style, Mr. Rao said the police was bringing a bad name to the Government by not taking action against the land sharks simply because they belonged to Rayalaseema.
As Home Minister K. Jana Reddy sat ill at ease, Mr. Rao said he had a good portfolio in Housing. People would remember him for providing shelter to them.
On the other hand the police never cared. As long as one was in power they saluted and the moment one stepped down they wouldn't mind even arresting, he remarked amidst laughter.
