Sharp reactions to ruling on quota
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
The Andhra Pradesh State Backward Classes Welfare Association and AP BC United Struggle Committee have reacted sharply to the Supreme Court's rejection of the Centre's petition seeking lifting of stay in the OBC reservations case.
In a statement issued here, president of the association R. Krishnaiah said the court's decision was against the public's sentiments. He expressed apprehension that it might lead to clashes in society. V.G.R. Naragoni, president of the committee, said OBC reservations could be enforced only through a constitutional amendment. He wanted the Centre to take up the amendment in the ensuing Parliament session with the support of all parties.
