Rs.225.69-crore aid sanctioned

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Centre has sanctioned Rs.225.69 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana to the State, Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty has said.

Mr. Kutty said in a release here on Tuesday that since it was 100 per cent grant, securing the fund under the scheme was a major achievement for the State. The State had got only Rs.48.43 crore under the scheme in 2005-06.

While the State had secured only Rs.199.08 crore from 2000 to 2006 for completing 450 roads spanning 837.042 km, work on 322 roads spanning 733.272 km was taken up during 2006-07 and the State had got Rs.225.69 crore, he said.
