Fake passport

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Shibu, 33, a resident of Kottukal, who arrived at the city's international airport on a flight from Sharjah on Tuesday, was arrested for allegedly possessing a fake passport.

According to the police, Shibu carried a passport issued from Kozhikode that sported his photograph.

However, emigration officials here found out that the passport was not his.

Shibu was later handed over to the Valiathura police.

Women arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mariamma, 35, and Kaliamma, 25; natives of Madurai, were arrested on Tuesday morning after they reportedly tried to steal the purse of a woman travelling in a bus.

According to the police, the incident took place when the bus reached Pattom. The women were apprehended by passengers while they were attempting to take the purse that was kept inside a shopping bag. A case has been registered, the police added.
