School bus overturns, eight kids injured
According to the police, the accident took place around 7-30 a.m. when the van carrying the children to their school in Sector 25 of Rohini was hit by the speeding Toyota Qualis. Eight of the nine children in the van suffered minor injuries and were discharged after first aid. The erring driver fled leaving behind his Toyota Qualis. However, he was later arrested. The injured children belong to Kendriya and Sarvodaya Vidyalayas. The vehicle has been impounded and a case of rash driving and negligence registered against the driver.
Alleged criminals
in police net
According to the police, the accused, Amit alias Suraj, a resident of Banka in Bihar, was arrested at Shastri Nagar Metro railway station on Monday. The police said the accused had come from Bihar in search of a job and taken up a job as a peon in a private office.
4 Nepalese booked
in burglary cases
The police claim to have recovered a television set, one mobile phone, Rs. 12,000 in cash and an iron rod allegedly used in breaking open the locks at their instance. Those arrested have been identified as Padam Bahadur, Man Bahadur, Ram Janam Bahadur and Narender Bahadur. Efforts are now on to nab the absconding accused.
Three arrested
Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid near S-Block jungle and Arif Khurshid, Tinku and Vijay Pal -- all in their early 20s -- were arrested. Two country-made pistols and two live cartridges have been seized, the police said. During interrogation, the accused purportedly told the police that they committed robberies in upmarket localities of South Delhi and fled to their native place in Uttar Pradesh.
Alleged cheat nabbed
Acting on a complaint by Naveen Bansal, the police laid a trap and arrested Pramod Kumar. A barber by profession, Pramod came to Delhi in 2001 and took to crime to make easy money, the police said.
