Puducherry : Chairperson of the Puducherry Municipality B. Sridevi said here on Monday that she had urged the authorities of the Jawaharlal Nehru Rural and Urban Management Scheme, New Delhi, to provide Rs.210 crore to lay underground drainage lines. Presently underground drainage scheme had been implemented within boulevard limits, and with the mushroom growth of the housing colonies on the outskirts, a need had been felt to extend the scheme. She said she had participated in a meeting of the JNRUMS at New Delhi last week. She also said that Rs.41 crore would be needed to take up solid waste management in the municipality.
