PUDUCHERRY: The administration will conduct a survey to identify the communities left out in the Other Backward Caste list, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy informed the Assembly on Wednesday. Mr. Rangasamy said that a few communities were left out in the last survey held in 1994 and the administration would recommend their enrolment after the survey. The survey would be completed within six months, he noted. Mr. Rangasamy was responding to a question by S.P. Sivakumar (DMK) about the measures taken by the Government in this regard. The survey would look into the economic, educational and social status of different communities. The DMK and PMK Members locked horns when the issue was raised in the House during question hour. P.K.R Anantharaman (PMK) intervened to say that the last survey was conducted during the DMK Government and wanted to know whether they disapproved of the survey. This drew sharp protest from DMK Members, and even AIADMK Members too objected to the PMK member's interruption. Speaker R. Radhakrishnan intervened to restore order in the House and allowed the question.
