NEW DELHI: Parimarjan Negi drew with the second-placed Swede Tiger Hillarp Persson in 53 moves in the seventh round of the Sigeman chess tournament at Malmo, Sweden, on Tuesday. In this even battle in Sicilian, Parimarjan's extra pawn did not help his cause once the battle reached an ending involving opposite-colour bishops. The results (seventh round): Parimarjan Negi (3) drew with Tiger Hillarp Persson (Swe, 5); Erwin L'Ami (Ned, 3) drew with Ivan Cheparinov (Bul, 5.5); Vassilios Kotronias (Gre, 3.5) bt Emil Hermansson (Swe, 1); Jonny Hector (Swe, 2) lost to Pontus Carlsson (Swe, 3.5); Jan Timman (Ned, 4) bt Emanuel Berg (Swe, 4.5).
