BHUBANESWAR: Public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) on Wednesday reported a 52.39 per cent jump in its net profit to Rs.2,380.70 crores during 2006-2007 from Rs.1,562.20 crores achieved in the previous year. According to un-audited financial results reviewed by the Board in a meeting here, the company achieved its highest ever turnover of Rs.6,516.78 crores, registering an increase of 22.40 per cent over the previous year's figure of Rs.5,324.16 crores. Similarly, NALCO clocked the highest-ever metal sale of 3,56,616 tonnes in 2006-2007 which represented an increase of 3.4 per cent against the target of 3,45,000 tonnes. The previous best sale was recorded as 3,53,841 tonnes in the year 2005-2006. The aluminium smelter unit also made 104 per cent capacity utilisation during the year, NALCO said in a release.
