HYDERABAD: Ten-year-old K. Haridhar Reddy of Hyderabad became the first golfer from the city to win the `D' category title in the South Zone sub-junior golf open championship at Udhagamandalam on Wednesday, according to information received here. The fifth standard student of Hyderabad Public School (Begumpet) won with a score of 87 gross with 15-over on the first day and 93 with 23-over on the second day. Incidentally, this is the highest-ever score recorded in this category in the championship.
Camps inaugurated
The State Government has assured the sporting fraternity of its continued support to promote talent. This was stressed by Mohd. Shabbir Ali, Minister for Information & Public Relations, at the inauguration of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation summer camps at Victory Playground here. The Minister stressed the importance of sports in the social reconstruction and reminded that it was imperative for sportspersons and coaches to make optimum use of the infrastructure available, and also the GHMC initiative, the biggest ever in the country.
